I call myself a “hobby writer,” meaning that i do it for fun, edification and self-expression — not (given the prevailing business model for writing as a profession) for the money. That said, i did make a modest living as a writer for a few years, and have a binder full of print publication credits from the Vancouver Sun, Pacific Yachting, Sea Kayaker, a toss of anthologies and miscellaneous other pubs.
Here’s a small sample of some of my published or performed writing:
Poetry
- The CAWnfrontation
- small town love
- Zen chicks (from 2005 chapbook Verse & Perverse)
Short fiction
- Kamp IroniK (wilderness satire, from Jan. 2007 issue of Tofino Time magazine)
Magazine
- Tofino Abstract (a short, free-form piece on the Tofino Time site)
Essays
- The Ups & Downs of Sexual Etiquette — a short, tongue-in-cheek reflection on bathroom habits)

Re: The Toilet Seat. Duh. I’m pretty sure you’ve matured a lot since 2004! This is why the Australians invited the automatic seat — it lowers itself slowly after the flush. Guess those guys down under have the under part down, but not the down part down.
